The urban city of New Haven is best known for the eminent Yale University. The Yale Center for British Art and the Yale University Art Gallery house exquisite paintings. Visit New London, the seaport once fuelled by the whaling industry is now home to the US Coast Guard Academy. The Barnum Museum is located in Bridgeport, home of circus magnate P. T. Barnum. For the arts-minded, the Sculpture Mile in Madison features a number of sculptures by several different American artists. This attraction is free of charge and can be found on Main Street.
